Dear Wigleaf: I want to attract birds, whatever kind I can get (well,
other than seagulls and pigeons), to the driveway where my windows
look. Windows on the left side only, the south side. My other walls
abut neighbors who do whatever they please, typically followed by a
fight. When I first moved here I bought a feeder and planted it in the
sand under the windows. I filled it and birds came, but I
don't think I appreciated them very much. I guess I
haven't filled the feeder in a couple of years, so this
morning I washed it in the sink, scrubbing away the moss, the green and
stretching filaments. I considered buying my future birds a new house,
but the price of those things... I did find feed for $3.99 at the
supermarket, so that gave me some hope. Now I keep leaning over to see
if this is acceptable to the birds, to any one of them. I saw a scrubby
kid climb over the fence and run to the street. I'd seen him
before, and told him please not to do that again. - - -
