Past sunlight perfuming Babylon, Shakespeare eating olives, Oscar Wilde and a lover discovering a whole economy of pleasure by slow weavings of candle flame. Central Park pigeons nip seeds from her skirts as she screams past Norma Shearer playing Marie Antionette in one hundred pounds of silk satin on an MGM sound stage.

Bird Lady falls until she's caught by a shifting raft of avian quicksilver. Blue skies radiate over Normandy. Bloody faces lift toward God. When Bird Lady finds her balance, the clouds part just enough for her to glimpse Amelia Earhart falling through gaps sharp enough to behead.
