Dear Wigleaf,

I'm writing this from my backyard to share with you the secret to serenity. All you need is a meditation app and nature!

Sit on the edge of a pillow to help with posture.
I lie supine on a rug, knees bent so my hips don't dislocate. The ground supports my loosey-goosey spine, stills its micro-movements.

Close your eyes.
I gaze up. A palm frond sways in my periphery, rich green against the flawless blue-blue sky like a child's coloring.

Tune out the sounds around you.
My breathing seems loud. So does my heavy heartthump. The wind rustles through fallen leaves. A crow's throat ripples as it caws at me to leave already so it can stalk for grubs.

Take a deep inhale.
The muscles around my ribs are too tight for inhaling past a two-count. My exhales are much deeper. Maybe I have more to release than take in?

Observe but don't focus on sensations.
My low blood volume makes me tachycardic. Sweat gathers along my hairline like dew on blades of grass. My left lower eyelid ratchets up its twitching.

When your thoughts stray come back to your breathing.
Oh god, now I can't inhale past a one-count. Hm, look at that soaring hawk-

He rolls against me, warm, his back strong. He closes his eyes, snoring, breathing deeply. His tongue lolls. I feel instantly calm and energized. So good.

Oop! That's right. You will need a dog, too — the key to serenity.

Best Wishes,

Kalpi
